Background
This R-based workshop on Infectious Disease Modeling (IDM) was delivered as the Pre-Conference Workshop on Infectious Disease Modeling at JHAPSMCON-2026, organised by AIIMS Deoghar. It is aimed at learners who want to build practical infectious-disease-modeling skills in R through collaborative, small-group modeling activities.
Approach
The workshop is organised around group activity scripts (group1.R through group4.R), with each group working through a guided infectious-disease-modeling exercise in R. The format is collaborative and hands-on, prioritising live coding and peer learning over lecture.
What we found
- Participants practise reading, running, and adapting R infectious-disease-modeling scripts.
- Group-based structure reinforces collaborative, code-sharing modeling workflows.
Outputs & impact
- Group activity R scripts (
group1.R–group4.R) used in the sessions. - Venue: JHAPSMCON-2026, AIIMS Deoghar.
